The Chickamauga Nation Well Represented at Large PowWow in Hilo, HI

A citizen of The Chickamauga Nation, Joel Kelley, attended a large powwow in Hawaii last weekend and represented our Nation very well.

From Joel:

“The coat is British, 55th regiment of Foot, raised in 1755 and posted around the colonies and West Indies during [the French and Indian] war and war of independence. Liberally decorated with washer brooches and trade silver, as is the green tradecloth breech cloth. Leggings and moccasins are center seamed, leggings are a jaguar print, and are beaded with fresh water pearls.

I have aimed for a 1760 – 1770 period on this, and I will continue weeding out the weaker aspects as I move forward. Someday, I hope to wear it among our people.”
