Sunday Update From Chief Flanagan 3/1/2026
Shortly after I approached Sarah Sanders, shook her hand and indicated that myself and other tribal leaders are still hoping for a meeting with her. I have made many attempts to gain an audience with her on behalf of my people, but this was the first attempt made face to face. She said that she would have her team set something up. I hope that she will.
Update:
Good evening,
This has been a busy and productive week!
Most of this week was phone calls and zoom meetings with other Chiefs and Citizens of our Nation, however Tuesday included a little leg work.
I was invited to the Bobby Ballinger meet and greet in Harrison by members of the group Arkansas Alcatraz. They staged a peaceful protest of the Franklin County prison project and I went inside to meet Mr. Ballinger and Sarah Sanders.
I greeted Mr. Ballinger and said that he would have big shoes to fill if he won this race because no politician has given our tribe as much exposure or support over the last year as Senator Bryan King. We exchanged pleasantries and I wished him well.

After leaving Harrison, we went to Van Buren where members of Arkansas Alkatraz were joined by members of the Chickamauga Nation to further raise awareness of our displeasure for the Franklin County prison project. I went across the street to a fundraiser for Charlene Fite, fellow Native American and candidate for State Representative district 24. Her husband Tom Fite welcomed me and Arkansas Alkatraz. The Fites were very respectful of our opinions and supported the right to lawfully protest.
Though I did not speak with Sarah Sanders at this event, it was nice to see her twice in one day. Arkansas Alkatraz, led by John Jackson, achieved their goal as she saw them twice in one day as well.
I was able to reunite with many local politicians that I have met throughout the years, rekindle old friendships and make new ones.
All together it was a great day and memorable week.
Thank you.
